Alex Montgomery is horrified to discover that his brother has forced a defenseless girl. Tormented by guilt, Alex marries her and intends to raise the child in her womb. Shortly after the wedding, Alex discovers that Annie Trimble, the daughter "silly" of a local judge, not suffering from any mental disability, but suffer deafness.
